Fuzz Therapy: Halloween edition

It's my favorite time of year, which means I have a lot of stuff to prepare before Halloween this Saturday.  My King Rat coat is half-finished, and tomorrow I'll be spending the day carving up my pumpkins.  I won't tell you what they are yet (in case I really screw them up), but don't worry: there will be pictures of those, too (unless I really screw them up).  So forgive my lack of posts this week.  I'm trying to savor the fall and Halloween before the snow comes.

And, for your viewing pleasure, I offer you Princess in a pumpkin hat (note: best $5 I ever spent):

This is my shame :(
But my joy!!

Ah, it cheers me so to make her pissed off.  Every cat owner knows what I'm talking about.

Happy Halloween!

it's only fun if they hate it. well, fun for us.

How did you get it on her without bloodshed? I can only think of two answers: (1) While there are many things she hates, having a hat put on her is lower on the list than petting or brushing, or (2) You don't mind bleeding if it results in Princess in Hat.

ah, excellent questions, intransigentia. after 17 years of enduring her abuse, i'm actually quite used to any threat she may pose. and, like a snake handler learns where to safely grab a poisonous snake, i've learned that if you grab Princess on the back of her neck so she can't turn her head, you can do anything (briefly). she actually didn't put up much of a fuss when i was putting it on her, but when i let her go she just crouched low like my hand was still holding her down. she walked around the room in a cowering motion...

getting the hat off her was another matter. i think she thought i was going to do something worse to her. :)

Darren would have lost his mind if I had tried to dress hi up. In fact I am certain that he would have hidden under the bed and refused to move.

@Renee--

that's why you block off all exits. if you can catch him, it's worth it. trust me.

Just wanted to let you know I did a Halloween lesson recently at one of my elementary schools. I showed the kids different pictures of costumes. I decided to show them how people dress up their pets too, so I showed them these pictures of Princess. Their was a chorus of "CUUUUUTTTTEEEE!!!" from all the kids.

So thank you for posting these! ^_^
