This absolutely broke my heart. It's beautifully done. So true.
I also think it's telling... notice that everyone is saying yes. in all honesty, I think there are a lot of people that vote against same-sex marriage who, if asked face to face by a real human being, would not really give a crap who they marry. They're terrified of "gay" in the abstract but cannot understand how it touches the real lives of real people who live and love. I think that's unspeakably sad.
I hope you don't mind that I'll most likely be linking this all over the freaking place.
I loved this so much that I had to cross post it. What a great ad!
yeah, i got it from a friend on twitter--had to steal it. i hope it gets a wide circulation!
This is GREAT, thanks so much for posting it. I sent it on to the activist group over here, we need an ad like that.
sugar-for-sugar, I totally agree with everything you said. I have had people tell me they are against it because it poses a threat to straight marriage. I've asked them exactly how it does that. Will gay people come into your house and tear up your marriage certificate or something?
No one has been able to give me any actual concrete repercussion for straight people if gay people get married. And yet they're so afraid it will, that they've written discrimination into our LAW, defining marriage as between a man and a woman ONLY.
Bigots.
that's the problem with bigots. they like to oppress people, and when it comes time to answer why, they can't really back it up. i can't stand ignorant people.
