Monica over at Transgriot has shared some comments made on a radio broadcast heard in Sacramento and Reno, in which the on-air personalities criticize a mother who has decided to allow her child (born male) to live as a girl, which is just a touching story (unless you're Rob and Arnie).
Anyway, I recommend reading Monica's full post here (which has a link to the radio show in question; for those it doesn't work for, Monica has transcribed some of the more heinous comments). She has asked that you send your complaints (see below).
I have decided to post the email I sent to all three men (the VP, and States and Williams, who made the comments):
Mr. Geary--Now it's your turn. Contact them and tell them this hatred is unacceptable.
I am writing in complaint of some on-air transphobic comments made by two of your on-air personalities, Arnie States and . These comments are hateful and ignorant, and advocate what these men deem is justifiable violence against transmen and transwomen. At one point, Arnie states: "If my son, God forbid, if my son put on a pair of high heels, I would probably hit him with one of my shoes. I would throw a shoe at him." At another, Rob states: "Dawn, they are freaks. They are abnormal. Not because they’re girls trapped in boys bodies but because they have a mental disorder that needs to be somehow gotten out of them. That’s where therapy could help them." These comments and others made during the duration of the show illustrate the hatred and ignorance of these men, and I certainly hope that isn't something you want the station to be associated with. Inciting violence is unacceptable. Dehumanization and cruelty are unacceptable. Being transgendered is not a , and making comments to that affect illustrates an ignorant privilege that these men steep in. States and Williams must apologize for their ignorance, as should the station for allowing such offensive bile to be aired.
